The quarter horse racing is becoming quite popular now days. It is different from regular horse racing as here the horses have to sprint short distances covering a quarter mile or less. These races can be any where between 100 to 1000 yards. The quarter horses run much faster than the thoroughbreds. In addition, horse racing Ontario is popularizing quarter horses racing in Canada. The season gone by was wonderful as the purses touched a little short of $ 4 million. Almost hundred owners participated with 33 trainers and 19 jockeys. The season also saw a record number of horses racing with 358 with 1935 individual starts in 287 races.
